On Sunday evening, a police incident in Reseda resulted in the fatal shooting of a man after he reportedly fired a gun at a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) helicopter. The confrontation unfolded around 6:25 p.m. near Reseda Boulevard, following a call to authorities regarding an assault with a deadly weapon.

Details of the Incident

Upon arriving at the scene in the 6400 block of Reseda Boulevard, LAPD officers observed a man fleeing into an apartment complex located at the intersection of Reseda and Victory boulevards. A helicopter was dispatched to provide aerial support and reported that the suspect aimed his firearm at the aircraft.

Fortunately, initial assessments indicated that the helicopter was not struck by gunfire.

Pursuit and Subsequent Shooting

The suspect was pursued by law enforcement into a rear alley of the apartment complex, where gunfire between the suspect and police erupted. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene, where they pronounced the man deceased upon arrival.
