LA Fleet Week Returns with Maritime Exhibits and Air Shows

Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles’ iconic Fleet Week has returned to the Port of Los Angeles, officially kicking off on May 21 and running through May 26, 2025. This year’s event promises to be bigger and more exciting than ever, with a diverse array of activities that celebrate the U.S. Navy’s presence in Southern California. The public is invited to witness thrilling air shows, tour Navy ships, and participate in a series of maritime-focused exhibits aimed at educating visitors about naval life.
Fleet Week is a long-standing tradition in Los Angeles, designed to highlight the city’s close relationship with the U.S. Navy and military forces. The event, free to the public, has become one of the city’s most anticipated yearly happenings, attracting thousands of people each year. It offers a rare opportunity to tour active-duty ships, including the USS Anchorage, a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, which will be open to the public for tours throughout the event.
In addition to the ship tours, the event features spectacular aerial displays, including performances by the renowned U.S. Navy Blue Angels. The Blue Angels will perform a series of breathtaking maneuvers over the harbor on May 23 and May 24, drawing crowds to the coastline. The air shows are a highlight of Fleet Week, showcasing the skill and precision of Navy aviators while thrilling onlookers with gravity-defying stunts and high-speed passes.
Another key feature of Fleet Week is the educational aspect, as it allows civilians to engage directly with military personnel, learning about the Navy’s work and the technology that powers these massive ships. The event also includes exhibits on maritime history, naval warfare, and the latest innovations in defense technology. Attendees can interact with Navy recruiters, as well as veterans, providing them with a deeper understanding of military service and the crucial role the Navy plays in protecting the nation’s shores.
Fleet Week is also a family-friendly event, with plenty of activities for children and adults alike. In addition to the ship tours and air shows, the event includes live music performances, food trucks, and interactive exhibits that offer hands-on experiences with naval equipment. The Port of Los Angeles is transformed into a lively celebration of naval service, drawing both military enthusiasts and casual visitors.
Beyond the fun and excitement, Fleet Week serves as a meaningful tribute to the men and women of the U.S. Navy. It provides an opportunity for the public to express their gratitude for the sacrifices made by military personnel, as well as an occasion to celebrate the strong military presence that continues to be a cornerstone of Los Angeles’ identity.
In keeping with its tradition of community engagement, Fleet Week has also partnered with local schools and youth organizations, offering special tours and educational programs for students. This initiative aims to inspire the next generation of young people to consider careers in the military or fields related to maritime science and technology.
