Jiggly Caliente Takes a Break for Health Recovery

Jiggly Caliente, known for her vibrant performances and participation in “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” is stepping away from her public engagements to prioritize her health. This decision follows the unfortunate amputation of a significant portion of her right leg, a consequence of a severe infection.

Hospitalization and Health Issues

According to a statement released by her family on Thursday via her Instagram account, the 44-year-old performer was hospitalized due to a serious infection that ultimately led to the loss of “most of her right leg.” The post conveyed Jiggly’s heartbreak over the need to share such personal news, though it did not disclose specific details regarding the nature of the infection.

Jiggly Caliente’s Career Highlights

Real name Bianca Castro, Jiggly Caliente first captured national attention during the fourth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in 2012, finishing in eighth place. Known for her humor and energetic dance moves, she later made a memorable return in the sixth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” in 2021. In addition to her television accomplishments, she has also appeared in the series “Pose” and has been a judge on the spinoff “Drag Race Philippines” since its debut in 2022.

Impact of Health on Career

Due to her health challenges, Jiggly will not return as a judge for the upcoming fourth season of “Drag Race Philippines” and will be stepping back from all public appearances for the time being. Her family noted that her recovery will involve an extensive process, and they emphasized the importance of privacy during this difficult time.

Community Support

The outpouring of support from fellow “Drag Race” alumni and fans highlights Jiggly’s significant impact on her community. Notable figures like Bob the Drag Queen, Manila Luzon, and Michelle Visage expressed their love and encouragement in the comments section of her announcement post. “Jiggly I love you so much. You always keep it so real,” Bob the Drag Queen commented, while Michelle Visage added, “We love you so much my sweet jiggles and we are praying with all we’ve got.”

A Call for Privacy and Positivity

In their statement, Jiggly’s family requested that fans send messages of hope and positivity. “At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Bianca and her family as they navigate this difficult journey together,” the statement concluded.
