Teen Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run During Shoplifting Incident
A 16-year-old boy has been taken into custody in connection with the death of Kourosh “Steve” Yaghoubi, a 60-year-old man who was struck and killed while attempting to prevent a theft at his brother’s store in South El Monte. The arrest occurred on Friday, following an incident that occurred earlier this month.

According to local authorities, when Yaghoubi and his brother attempted to stop the suspects, a physical altercation ensued, leading to Yaghoubi being run over by the getaway vehicle as the suspects fled.
