Three men wearing “police-style” uniforms robbed a Koreatown apartment early Saturday morning, apparently posing as law enforcement officers, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Police said the men, along with a fourth accomplice, robbed a home in the 3100 block of Wilshire Boulevard of an unspecified amount of cash and jewelry before committing the assault around 2:40 a.m.

Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison said three of the thieves were wearing black ski masks and “all-black police-style uniforms,” and the fourth was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. . At least one person was in possession of a black semi-automatic handgun, Madison said.

Madison said the robbers took a “large amount” of cash and jewelry, but fled the scene after the assault and robbery.

When police and paramedics arrived, the assault victim refused an offer to take an ambulance to the hospital, Madison said.

This incident is not the first time recently that criminals have dressed similarly to law enforcement officers during crimes. In June, police said two men posed as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, including using fake badges, to enter a home in Anaheim and then rob a Latino resident.
