NAREB Concludes Landmark Industry Convention in L.A. on July 31

by LA News Daily Contributor

The National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) wrapped up its 77th Annual National Convention on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the J.W. Marriott L.A. Live in Los Angeles, concluding six full days of programming that ran from July 26 to July 31. The event attracted hundreds of real estate professionals committed to equity in housing and minority representation throughout the industry.

Mid-year commercial real estate reports released on July 31 added a layer of industry context, pointing to cautious optimism for the second half of 2025. Analysts noted stable fundamentals in prime office and multifamily sectors, while slower momentum was observed in peripheral markets, underscoring a bifurcated outlook. Experts identified that while top-tier assets continue to perform solidly, secondary and tertiary markets require selective investment strategies.

The convention focused squarely on innovation and equity. Breakout sessions covered emerging prop-tech trends, sustainability in urban development, and strategies for affordable homeownership. Key discussions addressed affordability and equitable access in real estate, offering actionable plans for community engagement and long-term impact. Emphasis was placed on bridging the racial wealth gap and strengthening Black homeownership through education and policy dialogue.

The Women Investing in Real Estate (W.I.R.E.) track, held earlier in the week on July 28, highlighted economic empowerment for Black women professionals. It featured power panels such as “Banking on Her Power” and “Women Who Close Big,” addressing capital access, scaling businesses, and leadership in development. Discussions included representation from leading organizations and individuals, offering insights on investment, development financing, and building generational wealth.

On July 30, the NAREB Top 100 Awards Soirée—a high-profile celebration honoring the nation’s leading African American real estate professionals—took place at the same hotel. Attendees were recognized for collectively surpassing $3 billion in real estate transactions, solidifying the evening’s prestige and visibility within and beyond the NAREB community.

The broader convention agenda included sessions such as the Developers Academy graduation, Realtist After Dark networking events, golf events, silent auctions, and bus tours focused on community wealth building. These gatherings provided networking opportunities for realtors, lenders, fintech innovators, developers, public officials, and nonprofit leaders—uniquely positioning the convention as a hub for innovation and social impact.

Returning attendees and newcomers alike expressed renewed motivation as the event closed. Participants left with strengthened networks, insights into prop-tech, policy advocacy tools, development strategies, and refined approaches to fostering equity in housing. The gathering reaffirmed NAREB’s mission to elevate African American voices in real estate and drive generational wealth.

This year’s convention came at a critical time, reinforcing the organization’s strategic focus on bridging gaps in access and opportunity through knowledge-sharing, high-profile recognition, and policy engagement. With industry reports pointing to a mixed but stable market landscape and thousands of attendees mobilized around shared mission goals, the NAREB Convention underscored the growing influence of Black real estate professionals in shaping the future of equitable housing in America.

NAREB’s 2025 National Convention achieved more than its agenda—it advanced a vision of real estate as a vehicle for empowerment, inclusion, and wealth building.
